"Zero Waste" solidarity marathon took place on Caspian Sea Day
This initiative of the Red Hearts Foundation, which periodically comes up with Corporate Social Responsibility projects, took place on August 12, Caspian Sea Day. Thus, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Kapital Bank, the Foundation started the "Zero Waste" Solidarity Marathon. The marathon, held in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Kapital Bank, was held in Lankaran region. 70 employees from Kapital Bank's branch networks covering the Lankaran-Astara economic regions voluntarily joined the cleaning of the coastal areas of the Caspian Sea. As a result, the area was cleared of 628 kg of plastic and other household waste.
The purpose of the project implementation is to clean the sea shores, mountain and forest areas from waste, to increase environmental sensitivity in the society and to strengthen environmental awareness. Yusif Poladov, president of the Red Hearts Foundation, who shared his views at the event held within the marathon, thanked the nature lovers who participated in the project. "These initiatives must be sustainable. It is necessary for our world, our country to be united for a healthy future for us and future generations. We, as the Foundation, try to take part in all the projects on this topic and call on everyone to support the protection of the environment, at least to protect the environment by realizing their own responsibility."
It should be noted that after the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Environment of the Caspian Sea came into force on August 12, 2006, this date is celebrated as "Caspian Sea Day" every year. The Convention is the first legal agreement between the Caspian littoral states that reflects the nature protection conditions.
