Support was provided to women farmers from 5 regions within the framework of the AFAQ project
Support measures provided to female farmers within the framework of the Agrarian Women in Azerbaijan (AFAQ) project implemented by the “Agrarian Procurement and Supply” OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of “PASHA Holding” continue.
The next meeting within the framework of the project was held with female farmers from Lankaran, Astara, Neftchala, Masalli, Jalilabad regions, which farms were supported for their development. The meeting was attended by Elburus Abbasov, a representative of the Lankaran City Executive Power, Elvin Mammadov, Deputy Director of the Lankaran State Agrarian Development Center, Anar Gadirov, a member of the Board of Directors of “Agrarian Procurement and Supply” OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture, Gulbeniz Ganbarova, Chairwoman of the Azerbaijan Rural Women’s Association, and female farmers.
The representatives speaking at the event emphasized the important role of the AFAQ project in encouraging female farmers to engage in agricultural activities in the regions and in development of family farms. It was noted that support provided within the project stimulates the work of women farmers and allows them to earn more income.
According to the evaluation surveys within the framework of the current support measures, 13 farmers were provided with 7 feed grinders, 2 milking machines, 2 incubators, 2 grain mills, and 1 honey extractor equipment in total, according to the needs of the farms. At the same time, trainings were held for farmers on poultry and livestock breeding in order to develop their farms.
It should be noted that the AFAQ project serves to increase women's employment, their access to information, resources, and markets, as well as the number of agrarian business entities managed by women, and to improve socio-economic well-being in the regions.
To date, 847 farmers have been trained in various areas of agriculture within the project. In total, 299 women in 29 regions have been supported with appropriate equipment and assets.
