"Let's protect gazelles!" ecological summer camp was held
On July 10-12, the next environmental summer camp, in the direction of education and development of young people "Let's protect gazelles!" was held in Goygol region, which was launched on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, vice president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, in the framework of the "Reintroduction of gazelles to the areas where they historically inhabited in the Caucasus" program.
A total of 30 schoolchildren from Goygol, Ganja and Samukh regions joined the camp organized by IDEA Public Union, Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republican Child and Youth Development Center of the Ministry of Education and the Azerbaijani representative office of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The main goal of holding the environmental summer camp "Let's protect gazelles!" is to educate the young generation living in the areas where gazelles have been reintroduced, including those close to their natural habitats.
During the camp, schoolchildren took part in presentations, trainings and excursions about gazelles' lifestyle, the history of their settlement in our country, their distribution areas and their role in nature, works and successes of restoring the population of a rare living species, as well as participated in various ecological contests and fun knowledge contests related to the environment. Inter-team environmental games were held for children in nature, studies were conducted on identifying our fauna species based on footprints, and safety rules in nature areas were explained. At the end, certificates and souvenirs were presented to the participants.
