IBA's TamEco project was awarded the national CSR award

This year's winners of the National CSR Award presented in our country for the 5th year have been announced. IBA's TamEco project was awarded the National CSR Award in the "Combating climate change" category.

"Combating climate change" is one of the sustainable development goals of the UN. Becoming a "country of clean environment and green growth" has been defined as one of Azerbaijan's five national priorities for socio-economic development by 2030. In accordance with that priority, work is being done to improve the environment, restore and increase greenery, and ensure efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources.

In order to strengthen international solidarity in the global fight against climate change, based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 25, 2023, 2024 was declared the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in our country. It should be noted that in 2024, our country will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - a prestigious event such as COP29.

IBA's TamEco project is public support for the state policy implemented in this direction. The project was implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the international payment organization Visa, starting from 2022. According to the project, when customers order a TamEco card from IBA, one tree can be planted per card. The Bank has taken over the donation payment for the purchase of tree saplings on behalf of the clients. Thus, every customer who ordered a TamEco card from IBA grew a tree in our country. Within the framework of the project, a total of 36,000 trees were planted in the territory of Azerbaijan.

TamEco card itself is made from recycled plastic collected from the world's oceans. This is the first eco card presented in the base of Visa not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region in general.

Many state institutions are represented in the awarding commission of the National CSR Award. The main goal of the project is to encourage the increase in the number of corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects and charity works implemented in our country, as well as to appreciate the activities of companies implementing CSR projects on a wider scale.
