Cycling for a greener future: Celebrating Kapital Bank’s 150th anniversary
Kapital Bank, the country’s first bank, in partnership with the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation organized a cycling event dedicated to its 150th anniversary. The initiative, held within the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and promote the use of eco-friendly transportation.
The cycling event took place in Baku, Guba, Ganja, and Lachin, featuring nearly 50 athletes from the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation. The ride began in city centers and concluded in front of Kapital Bank branches. As part of the event, a fun gathering was held for customers, where everyone participating in various games won prizes. The main prize, a bicycle, was awarded to the winners of the games.
Anar Zeynalov, manager of the Yasamal branch, opened the event with a speech and highlighted the symbolic meaning of the project, which started in the capital Baku and concluded in Karabakh. Elnara Musayeva, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, expressed her gratitude to Kapital Bank for dedicating its anniversary to supporting cycling. She emphasized that promoting cycling, especially among the youth, contributes significantly to a clean environment and a healthier future.
Residents of Guba warmly welcomed the athletes. The event was opened with the speech of Elvin Mammadov, the manager of the Northern branch, who stated that Kapital Bank, which has been evolving to meet the needs of the times with modern digital solutions for 150 years, actively participates in and supports social and nationally significant projects.
The event in Ganja was also memorable, marked by high customer engagement. It was attended by city officials, university rectors, and representatives from foreign countries. During his speech, Niyazi Bayramov, Head of Ganja City Executive Power, noted the importance of this event during the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" and in the run-up to major projects like COP29. He added that young people and children interacting with athletes would inspire interest in a healthy lifestyle and sports among the new generation.
The cycling event in Lachin was filled with proud moments for both athletes and local residents. Vugar Salahov, a member of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, presented the main prize, a bicycle, to the winner. In his speech, he shared the significance of concluding the project in Karabakh, stating that every athlete participating in this event experiences the pride of conquering a free Lachin.
